Our most important mission is to provide good healthcare and medical care. The County Council also works in other important and exciting areas such as dental care, culture, education, as well as regional development.

One of the biggest employers in health and medical care

Norrbotten County Council is one of the county´s biggest employers, with approximately 7500 employees. Most of us work in areas of healthcare and medical care. The county has five hospitals, located in Kiruna, Gällivare, Kalix, Sunderbyn and Piteå. Sunderby hospital is also the county hospital, located in Södra Sunderbyn, on the boundary between the municipalities of Boden and Luleå. The county also has 37 health care centres, some of them with observation beds, i. e. facilities for admitting patients for a short period for observation. Dental care is offered in all the 14 municipalities of the county.

New recruitments

The County Council is facing large numbers of retirements in the coming years. We will therefore need to recruit many new employees. There is already a need for biomedical analysts, certain specialist nurses and doctors, as well as dentists.
